Countdowns and Additional Announcements!
29 Days until Election Day (As of Monday, October 5)
The first Monday in October is traditionally the start of the new SCOTUS (Supreme Court of the United States) term. This will be the first year since 1993 without Justice Ginsburg. Justice Ginsburg achieved much during her tenure and throughout her career as an attorney and jurist. She will be particularly remembered for her (in some quarters) audacious conviction that women are as fully human as are men. What is on the docket this term? Find out at scotusblog.com. Also visit this site to learn more about the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett.
Registered voters are beginning to receive vote by mail ballots from New Jersey’s 21 counties. Have you received yours? Find out how to properly complete your ballot and how to mail it or where to drop it off here. Be sure that your vote will count..
Remember that Tuesday, October 13th is the deadline to register to vote if you want to vote in the November 3rd General Election. Ramapo students have a voter registration rate of over 80%. Let’s raise it even higher. Start the registration process here. With your vote, you can help elect public servants who best serve your interests and those of your community.
And your vote extends much further than just the Presidential race. Along with the ballot for president, Ôàô of Senate seats (including one in NJ) will be up for election, as well as all 435 U.S. House of Representative seats. We have 12 of those 435 congressional districts in NJ. All 12 of those seats will be decided on November 3rd. Beyond that, your vote can help to elect politicians on the state and local level who help shape local and state policies that directly affect you and your community. And in the state of New Jersey, you will have the chance to use your voice to directly affect policy-- by getting to vote on three ballot measures. Become a poll worker. Register to vote. Find out if you are registered.Visit my Vote Everywhere at Ramapo College.
Pledge to vote! Get together with your friends (while abiding by Covid safety precautions) and create your plan to vote.
