Hello Wondering,
The best way to learn about the SGA, or Student Government Association, is for you to hear directly from the SGA President, Anjali Patel. I passed on your question to her and she shared the information below- focusing on three things: 1) SGA Elections & Representatives; 2) Oktoberfest; and 3) The Run with Color. Read on to see the updates and all the ways to get involved!
Hello Roadrunners!
I wanted to give you all interesting SGA updates! I want to preface by saying thank you to all of the students that participated in the voting process for our Fall 2020 Elections. There were more votes cast in this Fall's election than in years past and we almost had the same voter turnout that we have for the Spring Elections! The Fall 2020 Election has enabled us to complete our Senate for the school year, and all Senators are looking forward to serving you. Election results are posted on Archway as well as SGA social media, all under the username @ramaposga. The SGA hopes to see this amazing voter participation continue for the November elections as well as future SGA elections!
On to updates, as you may have seen in advertisements for this year’s Oktoberfest festivities on social media and the Daily Digest, we have plenty of fun and spooky activities in store for you! This year, we’re hosting a mix of virtual and in-person events to keep everyone safe while also providing the Oktoberfest fun that you know and love. This Saturday, October 10 at 8pm, we’re hosting an in-person, socially distant viewing of The Nightmare Before Christmas on the Bandshell Lawn. Bring your own chairs, blankets, and refreshments, and make sure to register on Archway before the event at this link - http://cglink.me/r851764. All students must register beforehand and are required to maintain at least 6 feet of distance between them and other students. Masks are required from the parking lot or your residence hall until you are seated on the Bandshell. No one should arrive at the Bandshell before 7:30 and all students will be required to check in on site via the Archway event for contract tracing purposes.
The following weekend from October 15-17, we’ll have a bunch of virtual events, including a Virtual Illusionist Show, Bingo Night, and Kahoot Game. You’ll even get a chance to win some prizes! Whether you’re on campus or at home, we hope that you’ll continue to take part in this annual Ramapo tradition.
Another annual SGA tradition is the Run with Color, which is managed by the Ramapo College Foundation and the SGA Student Governors. This year, in the spirit of being "together, while apart," Ramapo College is taking our annual 5K Run with Color virtual. Join either the current student, faculty and staff team or the Roadrunner Alumni/Parents and Friends team in support of Ramapo College- specifically student scholarships!
Sign up now and let's see which team can log the most total miles between now and October 28. Participants from the team with the most total miles will get recognized with a virtual badge and the top 10 male and female identified runners with the best times from the winning team will receive a medal. The first 100 participants who sign up will receive a free Ramapo College face mask.
Run or walk anywhere and at any time that you choose- your local streets, a track or a treadmill. Make sure wherever you participate, you are adhering to the health and safety guidelines in effect at the time of the challenge. You can submit your distance and time each day you participate.

Be on the lookout for more updates from the SGA. Thank you for your time, enjoy your October, and we’ll be in touch soon!
Sincerely,
