We are 1STEP (Students Together for Environmental Progress). We come from a diverse background and have a wide range of interests, but are all passionate about making the world we live in more sustainable.

1Step is a student organization and outreach arm for localized sustainability, environmental issues, and to help further the Ramapo Green initiative at Ramapo College of New Jersey. Ascertaining that Ramapo meets its commitment to increase recycling and waste awareness on campus, as does personal growth in all realms of sustainability. We also act as a bridge between local sustainable organizations and the general campus community.

Based on the guiding principles of feasible solutions, service, awareness, and collaboration, 1Step aims to recruit a diverse and passionate body of members that embrace sustainable development.

Just like nature itself, our organization is constantly evolving and adapting to the unique needs and desires of the Ramapo community and its constituents.

The purpose of AEF is to develop strategies and programs which strengthen the social, political, economic, intellectual, and spiritual welfare of EOF and friends operating under the guidance and direction through SGA. Under the guidance and direction of SGA, AEF will pursue the following purposes:
- Strengthen the ability of EOF and friends at Ramapo in gaining the necessary resources
to improve their effectiveness in meeting the needs of EOF and friends.

Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) is the International Sociology Honor Society. AKD was founded in 1920 at the University of Southern California by Dr. Emory S. Bogardus and became affiliated with the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS) in 1967. Alpha Kappa Delta is also affiliated with the American Sociological Association (ASA).

Alpha Kappa Delta seeks to acknowledge and promote excellence in the scholarship in the study of sociology, the research of social problems, and such other social and intellectual activities as will lead to improvement in the human condition.

Alpha Kappa Delta is a non-secret, democratic, international society of scholars dedicated to the ideal of Athropon Katamannthanein Diakonesin or “to investigate humanity for the purpose of service.”

Membership Benefits
Membership is open to undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty members from active chapters who meet our minimum standards. Currently, there are more than 135,000 members in Alpha Kappa Delta and over 690 chapters.

There is a governing body of elected sociologists who are Alpha Kappa Delta members and who serve as our Council Members and Regional Representatives. There is also a central Executive Office located in Syracuse, NY where an Executive Director, Finance Officer, and several student employees are employed.

Membership is for a lifetime. There are no annual dues for members after the initial payment unless one decides to remain a Voting member.
A certificate of membership and a membership card are given to all new members to recognize the honor of being a part of Alpha Kappa Delta.
Free one-year subscription to Sociological Inquiry, the official journal of Alpha Kappa Delta.

Undergraduate and Graduate Student Paper Competitions. AKD sponsors an annual student paper competition for both undergraduate and graduate students. Winners receive a cash prize and travel money to participate in the American Sociological Association (ASA) annual meeting.
Undergraduate students have the chance to participate in the ASA Honors Program
First place winners are eligible to have their papers published in Sociological Inquiry
Student Travel Money. AKD provides grants to undergraduates and graduate students who are AKD members to present at regional sociological meetings.

Merchandise.
Members may purchase an honor cord to wear at their graduation ceremony, lapel pins, t-shirts, and other AKD paraphernalia.
Mentorship Program. This program provides an opportunity to connect and network with other AKD members and professionals in the sociology field.

AKD Members who are Civil Service employees meet one of the requirements for entrance at the GS-7 level (an increase in pay-grade) if they list AKD membership on their applications (providing they enter at the GS-5 level).
Social Media allows for opportunities to network with other members of the Society and professionals in the sociology field. Join us on our public Facebook and Twitter, and our member-exclusive LinkedIn page.
Voting members may participate in Officer elections and receive a one-year subscription to Sociological Inquiry.

Membership in Alpha Kappa Delta is open to current students who are majoring or minoring in sociology or a program sociological in nature, and attend an institution with an active chapter.

The lifetime membership fee is $50. There are no annual Society dues, but there may be local chapter dues. Please contact the chapter representative at your chapter for more information.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements - Undergraduate Students
Be enrolled as a major or minor in a sociology program or a program sociological in nature
Be at least a junior (third year) by standards of the host institution
Rank in the top 35% of their graduating class in general scholarship.
If class rank is not readily available to a chapter representative, in lieu of class rank, students shall have accumulated the equivalent of an overall grade point average of at least 3.3 by a four point scale where: A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0
Have maintained the equivalent of a 3.0 GPA in sociology courses taken at the host institution prior to initiation
Have completed at least four courses (the equivalent of 12 semester hours) in sociology prior to initiation
Graduate Students
Be officially admitted to graduate study in sociology at the host institution
Completed one-half year of graduate study in sociology (i.e., one semester or two quarters or the equivalent academic unit)
Graduate GPA of a B or better
Continue matriculation in a program of study leading toward a graduate degree in sociology at the host institution
Faculty & Professional Staff
Formal conferral of the PhD in sociology or employment as a sociologist are required prior to initiation

If so, that’s great! Here are some helpful tips on the next steps of becoming a member.

A lifetime membership is $50 and there is no obligation to renew your membership.
You must join through your chapter. We do not accept individual memberships from students.
Contact your chapter representative to check when he/she will be sending out an announcement to join AKD.
If you think your chapter may not send out official announcements about membership, fill out our generic membership application and give it to your chapter representative to let him/her know you are interested in joining

Please note: Make sure the chapter representative approves your membership before writing a check for your membership and handing it over.
When will you become an official member? You are officially a member of Alpha Kappa Delta when our Executive Office receives your membership payment and required forms from the chapter. The Executive Office puts you in the system as a member and will order you a membership certificate (certificates are sent to your chapter representative and take about 2-4 weeks to arrive from the time we receive the order).
What about an official induction ceremony? Most chapters have some kind of induction ceremony; however, each chapter is different and AKD does not require an induction ceremony be held in order for students to be official members.

We are an organization dedicated to changing lives one step at a time by raising cancer awareness and walking for a cure. As a committee we plan and run fundraisers leading up to our main event in the Spring semester, Ramapo's own Relay For Life event. The money raised doesn't only go to cancer research, but benefits those suffering from cancer by providing treatment and support programs, such as the Hope Lodge. We raise awareness for survivors, those fighting, and those who have lost their lives to cancer. We hope to live in a world with more birthdays and hope to build towards a world with no cancer.

The Animation Production Club gives students an introduction in the animation industry and provides a place to develop teamwork skills. So what the dad does is take out a magazine and in this magazine there's a globe and he tears the globe up into 500 pieces and he says “here son put this puzzle together.” The son comes back two minutes later with the puzzle completed. The dad ask “how did you get the puzzle done so quickly?” the boy said “on the back of the globe there was a man” and the son said, “if I can fix the man, I can fix the world” as Brothers Making A Difference we believe that we are the sons of this world, and to fix this world, we need to fix ourselves starting with education, we build an environment of healthy education, empowerment, prosperity, and freedom in a climate of mis-education, treating people the way they want to be treated, look to savage inequalities, dismantle social/psychological slavery, and unify the circumstance for men of the African Diaspora, and to be able to follow the true doctrine of human equality by climbing as high as he is able to climb and willing to go we commission this constitution for Brothers Making a Difference.

The College Republicans seek to promote conservative political ideals on campus. Through the hosting of events and tablings, we seek to give fair representation to those who are on the right side of the political spectrum on campus. Bi-weekly meetings are held to give students a chance to have relaxed political discussion with other like-minded students. Students of all political persuasions are welcome—there is no requirement that members register with the Republican Party, and no student will take a political ideology test. As the officially recognized on-campus affiliate of the Republican Party, we also help Republicans get elected in federal, state, and local elections. Members can take part in canvassing and phone-banking for candidates, oftentimes for pay as generous as $15 per hour during campaign season. Members are invited to the NJ College Republicans Convention for little to no cost to the member, and they can also receive heavily discounted tickets to CPAC, the largest annual gathering of political conservatives in America.

The Ramapo College Dance Company is a self-taught, student run organization that seeks to promote the arts through dance. Whether a beginner or a life-long dancer, the Dance Company is open to all students looking for an opportunity to create and perform various routines throughout the year. No auditions necessary. Our performances include a wide range of on-campus events and an annual Spring Recital, showcasing our dances learned throughout the year. Styles performed include hip hop, lyrical, jazz, tap, musical theater, and more!

Democracy Matters' mission is to change elections and change America by advocating for campaign finance reform in order to get money out of politics and ensure free elections.

As a member of Ramapo's chapter of Democracy Matters, you are part of a nationwide network of Democracy Matters' members with excellent networking and learning opportunities. In addition, you will have the chance to attend DM's yearly national summit, where you get to meet with other DM leaders to organize, network, and learn new ideas that you can then bring back to your campus.

Being a member of DM will also help you increase your skilsl and experience in organizing, advocacy, and political action. You'll gave the chance to take civic action and rally legislators to support campaign finance reform in their policy. And while campaign finance reform is DM's main focus, we also focus on the importance of voter registration and getting out the vote.

We also often discuss how money in politics often intersects with other important political issues, and how the impact of money can often policy and the way that legislators vote on an issue. We also discuss a variety of different politics news and issues throughout our meetings, so that members can always stay active, engaged, and informed.

We are the Filipino American Student Association of Ramapo College and we expand our ties throughout the tri-state area as well as the entire North East Coast as a member school of F.I.N.D. The Filipino American Student Association (FASA) is an organization focused on spreading awareness of the Filipino culture and heritage among the students of Ramapo College. FASA is also affiliated with the Filipino Intercollegiate Networking Dialogue (FIND), a network dedicated to promoting unity among many colleges and universities across the East Coast.

We meet once a week where we make announcements about upcoming events, and also discuss Filipino history and other social issues impacting our community in hopes to bridge the gap across different generations and backgrounds. We also encourage members to act as cultural agents and further spread their knowledge and open dialogue amongst their peers.

Our mission is to educate Ramapo students who are currently enrolled in the Teacher Education program, thinking of joining, or are in the process of joining. At our meetings, we have Ramapo faculty, mostly from the Teacher Education department, talk about important information needed to graduate from the program. About Pi Mu Epsilon – New Jersey Nu Chapter:

At Ramapo College the New Jersey Nu Chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon was chartered in Spring 2009. Since then an induction ceremony is being held every Spring semester, at which new members are inducted to the Pi Mu Epsilon National Mathematics Honor Society.

Any Ramapo College student who wishes to be inducted to the Pi Mu Epsilon National Mathematics Honor Society through the New Jersey Nu Chapter of the society at a given Spring semester ceremony (for instance, at the Spring 2011 ceremony) must satisfy the following requirements by the end of the previous spring semester (for instance, by the end of Spring 2010, respectively):

1. The student completed at least two calculus courses.

2. The student completed at least two mathematics courses above calculus.

3. The student has an overall GPA of at least 3.0 on the 4.0 scale.

4. The student has a GPA of 3.0 on the 4.0 scale in the mathematics courses taken so far that lead to the fulfillment of the requirements for a major in the mathematics.

5. If a student has courses that were transferred from other institutions, at least two of the four required courses mentioned between items (1.) and (2.) above must be completed at Ramapo College.

How can someone get inducted?

Each mathematics major at Ramapo College receives an email every fall semester in which he or she is being asked whether they wish to be considered for the induction to the society. Any mathematics majors who responds to that email by the deadline designated in the email will be considered for induction and will be inducted as long as he or she satisfies the 5 requirements listed above.

Any Ramapo College student who is not a mathematics major (for instance, a student who is a mathematics minor, or a history major) who wishes to be inducted, should contact the chapter advisor, Dr. Katarzyna Kowal, directly at kkowal@ramapo.edu early in the fall semester that immediately precedes the spring semester in which the student wishes to be inducted. Any such non-mathematics major will be inducted as long as he or she satisfies the 5 requirements listed above.

Any non-Ramapo College student or an individual, or any faculty member wishing to be inducted to the society by an exceptional action should contact the chapter advisor directly at kkowal@ramapo.edu early in the fall semester preceding the spring semester in which they wish to be inducted.

The purpose of Pi Mu Epsilon is to promote scholarly activity in mathematics. The inducted Ramapo College students need to fulfill a few fun chapter activities during each academic year. Such activities will be organized by the chapter advisor. The inducted students are also encouraged to present their undergraduate mathematics research at local, regional, and national conferences. Here are some examples of such conferences:
