OUR MISSION

The Ramapo College of New Jersey Women’s Center & LGBTQ+ Services works to build a welcoming feminist community centering women and LGBTQ+ students by promoting education, advocacy, wellness, and belonging.

OUR SPACE

The Women’s Center & LGBTQ+ Services affirms that people of all gender and sexual identities deserve the right to bodily autonomy, respect, and safety. With our lounge (Room C-220), we seek to cultivate a safer space rooted in practices of vulnerability, authenticity, and love — a space where all students, and especially those who are multiply marginalized, feel comfortable being their whole selves.

OUR FEMINISM

We advocate feminism that challenges sexism as it intersects with other systems of oppression, including heterosexism, cissexism, gender binarism, racism, classism, ableism, and ageism.

We believe that a feminist community should intentionally place women and LGBTQ+ people — especially those who are marginalized by multiple oppressive systems — at its heart.

At the same time, we believe, as bell hooks (pictured right) taught us, “feminism is for everybody.” Therefore, we aim to foster a community that embraces people of all gender and sexual identities who share an openness to learning about feminism and LGBTQ+ justice.
