Ramapo College seeks to provide a living environment welcoming to all gender identities; one not limited by the traditional gender binary. Gender Inclusive Housing allows for same-gender, opposite-gender or other-gender identities to live together regardless of biological sex. This provides a living/learning environment where residents can learn about and explore gender identity and expression in a supportive and safe environment.

Name Changes on Campus

Ramapo College unfortunately does not offer "preferred" or "used" names in our student information systems, Banner or Canvas, however we are currently in the process of updating those systems. Banner provides information for class rosters, billing, identification cards, residence life housing assignments, degrees, transcripts, email/Gmail, Canvas, and Archway, among other areas on campus.

A Name Committee comprised of professional staff, faculty, and students from various areas on campus was created to address name change issues at the college. For more information about this committee, contact Melissa Van der Wall mvanderw@ramapo.edu.

Gmail

Instructions:

  • In a web browser on a computer, log into Gmail with your Ramapo login information
  • Click the gear image at the top right corner
  • Drop down and click on "Settings"
  • Click on the "Accounts" tab
  • Click "edit info" to the right of the email you wish the edit the name change
  • Enter your first and last name you wish to appear in your email
  • Click on "Save Changes"

Archway

Instructions:

  • In a web browser on a computer, log into Archway with your Ramapo login information
  • Click on your picture (or blank avatar icon if you have not uploaded a picture) in the top right hand corner
  • Drop down and click on "My Profile"
  • Click "Edit Your Profile"
  • Enter your first and last name you wish to appear in Archway
  • Click on "Continue"
  • Click on "Finish"
  • Bonus step: Join the Women's Center portal on Archway!
