1Step is a student organization and outreach arm for localized sustainability, environmental issues, and to help further the Ramapo Green initiative at Ramapo College of New Jersey. Ascertaining that Ramapo meets its commitment to increase recycling and waste awareness on campus, as does personal growth in all realms of sustainability. We also act as a bridge between local sustainable organizations and the general campus community.

Alpha Alpha Alpha (Tri-Alpha) is a national honor society for first-generation college students that supports and recognizes their academic achievements.

Undergraduate students qualify for induction into Tri-Alpha if they meet the following criteria:
Identify as a first-generation college student, which is defined at Ramapo College of New Jersey as a student where neither parent(s) nor legal guardian(s) have completed a bachelor’s degree in the U.S.
Completed 1 semester at Ramapo.
Earned at least 30 credit/semester hours towards a baccalaureate degree.
Achieved a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2/4.0 scale.

Graduate students qualify for induction into Tri-Alpha if they meet the following criteria:
Identify as a first-generation college student, which is defined at Ramapo College of New Jersey as a student where neither parent(s) nor legal guardian(s) have completed a bachelor’s degree in the U.S.
Completed 1 full-time term of study (normally 9 graduate credits) at Ramapo.
Maintained an overall GPA in graduate courses of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) is the International Sociology Honor Society. AKD was founded in 1920 at the University of Southern California by Dr. Emory S. Bogardus and became affiliated with the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS) in 1967. Alpha Kappa Delta is also affiliated with the American Sociological Association (ASA).

Alpha Kappa Delta seeks to acknowledge and promote excellence in the scholarship in the study of sociology, the research of social problems, and such other social and intellectual activities as will lead to improvement in the human condition.

Alpha Kappa Delta is a non-secret, democratic, international society of scholars dedicated to the ideal of Athropon Katamannthanein Diakonesin or "to investigate humanity for the purpose of service."

Membership Benefits
Membership is open to undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty members from active chapters who meet our minimum standards. Currently, there are more than 135,000 members in Alpha Kappa Delta and over 690 chapters.

There is a governing body of elected sociologists who are Alpha Kappa Delta members and who serve as our Council Members and Regional Representatives. There is also a central Executive Office located in Syracuse, NY where an Executive Director, Finance Officer, and several student employees are employed.

Membership is for a lifetime. There are no annual dues for members after the initial payment unless one decides to remain a Voting member.
A certificate of membership and a membership card are given to all new members to recognize the honor of being a part of Alpha Kappa Delta.
Free one-year subscription to Sociological Inquiry, the official journal of Alpha Kappa Delta.

Undergraduate and Graduate Student Paper Competitions. AKD sponsors an annual student paper competition for both undergraduate and graduate students. Winners receive a cash prize and travel money to participate in the American Sociological Association (ASA) annual meeting.
Undergraduate students have the chance to participate in the ASA Honors Program
First place winners are eligible to have their papers published in Sociological Inquiry
Student Travel Money. AKD provides grants to undergraduates and graduate students who are AKD members to present at regional sociological meetings.

Merchandise.
Members may purchase an honor cord to wear at their graduation ceremony, lapel pins, t-shirts, and other AKD paraphernalia.
Mentorship Program. This program provides an opportunity to connect and network with other AKD members and professionals in the sociology field.

AKD Members who are Civil Service employees meet one of the requirements for entrance at the GS-7 level (an increase in pay-grade) if they list AKD membership on their applications (providing they enter at the GS-5 level).
Social Media allows for opportunities to network with other members of the Society and professionals in the sociology field. Join us on our public Facebook and Twitter, and our member-exclusive LinkedIn page.
Voting members may participate in Officer elections and receive a one-year subscription to Sociological Inquiry.

Membership in Alpha Kappa Delta is open to current students who are majoring or minoring in sociology or a program sociological in nature, and attend an institution with an active chapter.

The lifetime membership fee is $50. There are no annual Society dues, but there may be local chapter dues. Please contact the chapter representative at your chapter for more information.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements - Undergraduate Students
Be enrolled as a major or minor in a sociology program or a program sociological in nature
Be at least a junior (third year) by standards of the host institution
Rank in the top 35% of their graduating class in general scholarship.
If class rank is not readily available to a chapter representative, in lieu of class rank, students shall have accumulated the equivalent of an overall grade point average of at least 3.3 by a four point scale where: A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0
Have maintained the equivalent of a 3.0 GPA in sociology courses taken at the host institution prior to initiation
Have completed at least four courses (the equivalent of 12 semester hours) in sociology prior to initiation
Graduate Students
Be officially admitted to graduate study in sociology at the host institution
Completed one-half year of graduate study in sociology (i.e., one semester or two quarters or the equivalent academic unit)
Graduate GPA of a B or better
Continue matriculation in a program of study leading toward a graduate degree in sociology at the host institution
Faculty & Professional Staff
Formal conferral of the PhD in sociology or employment as a sociologist are required prior to initiation

If so, that's great! Here are some helpful tips on the next steps of becoming a member.

A lifetime membership is $50 and there is no obligation to renew your membership.
You must join through your chapter. We do not accept individual memberships from students.
Contact your chapter representative to check when he/she will be sending out an announcement to join AKD.
If you think your chapter may not send out official announcements about membership, fill out our generic membership application and give it to your chapter representative to let him/her know you are interested in joining

Please note: Make sure the chapter representative approves your membership before writing a check for your membership and handing it over.
When will you become an official member? You are officially a member of Alpha Kappa Delta when our Executive Office receives your membership payment and required forms from the chapter. The Executive Office puts you in the system as a member and will order you a membership certificate (certificates are sent to your chapter representative and take about 2-4 weeks to arrive from the time we receive the order).
What about an official induction ceremony? Most chapters have some kind of induction ceremony; however, each chapter is different and AKD does not require an induction ceremony be held in order for students to be official members.

Established in 1979, the Anisfield School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business – AACSB International, the hallmark of high quality management education worldwide. A student's intellectual development is of paramount importance and takes place within a supportive learning environment where engaged faculty bridge theory and practice.

In the spring of 2006, the School was renamed the Anisfield School of Business in recognition of the generous gifts of the Anisfield Family. The gifts were used towards the construction of the new academic building and to provide overall support for the business program. The Anisfield School of Business building opened in 2007 and has state-of-the-art classrooms, teaching computer labs and conference facilities. In the fall of 2010, the Global Financial Trading Laboratory opened with real time access to the world's financial data and electronic trading systems that allow students to gain valuable insight into how financial and economic theories learned in the classroom apply in real financial markets.

The undergraduate business curriculum is designed to provide students with the skills, knowledge, business principles, hands-on experiences, and support vital to understanding and appreciating the economic, social, political, cultural, and technological environment of the global economy. The Anisfield School of Business prepares students for careers in business and positions of responsibility in both the public and private sectors. Students also receive excellent preparation for pursuing graduate business and law school degrees.

The school's MBA program prepares working professionals to become ethical and effective leaders in the global economy, able to integrate multiple perspectives into actions that make for a better future for all stakeholders. The Master of Science in Accounting (MSAC) program offers the opportunity for students to complete a "four plus one" combined B.S./M.S. in Accounting in just five years. The MSAC program provides students with the 150 credits required for the CPA.

The Anisfield School of Business places strong emphasis on teaching and mentoring. Student learning and development is of paramount importance. Faculty create and apply innovative teaching methods, interact with students in small-sized classes, deliver independent and team learning experiences, and provide ongoing one-on-one academic engagement and advisement. Faculty intellectual contributions are seen as vital in this education process. These contributions include pedagogical research to improve the instructional capabilities of faculty, practitioner research to ensure they are current and relevant in their fields, and discipline-based research to enhance them as scholars. Finally, the faculty contributes to the college and community by sharing their business expertise in private, public, and philanthropic endeavors.

The School's faculty members hold advanced degrees in their fields, and many bring years of experience at the executive level in large and medium sized businesses. This mix of academic preparation and practical application allows students to see and experience how theory and practice interact in business. Academic advisement, career guidance, and professional development are integrated throughout a student's years at Ramapo College.

The School offers seven undergraduate majors: B.S. in Accounting, B.A. in Economics, B.S. in Finance, B.S.in Information Technology Management, B.A. in International Business, B.S. in Management and B.S. in Marketing. The school offers minors in Accounting, Business Analytics, Economics, Finance, Information Technology Management, International Business and Marketing as well as a Business Essentials Certificate for non-business majors. All business majors take a comprehensive set of core courses that cover the fundamentals of accounting, business law, business ethics, information technology management, economics, statistics, finance, international business, organizational behavior, operations management, marketing, and strategic management. In addition to building competency in these functional areas, the business core provides students with reasoning skills, communication skills, a global perspective, and an ethical and socially-responsible approach to business. These learning outcomes build upon and complement the broader liberal arts foundation that the college-wide general education courses provide.

All ASB students are required to complete the Career Pathways Program, which is intended to help students develop career management skills that can make them more successful in obtaining internships while in school and full-time employment upon graduation.

Students are encouraged to participate in the wide variety of extracurricular activities offered by the College. In addition, the Anisfield School of Business offers extracurricular opportunities through Alpha Kappa Psi (a co-ed business fraternity, Enactus (where students apply business concepts in non-profit and social-welfare contexts), a student investment club (Roadrunner Financial Group), a student chapter of the Society for the Advancement of Management, a Federal Reserve Challenge team, and the Consulting Club, as well as clubs for all of the majors and programs. ASB also sponsors a chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, the leading national business administration honor society, a chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, the international honor society for accounting, finance and information technology management majors, and a chapter of the Omicron Delta Epsilon economics honor society.

All students in the School are given electronic mail accounts and encouraged to communicate with course instructors, advisers, and classmates using e-mail, the Moodle Classroom Management System and the College Luminis Portal.
